The part of a man’s reproductive system that secretes fluid to transport sperm is known as the prostate gland. It lies beneath the bladder and surrounds the urethra. There are four types of prostatitis selected by the National Institutes of Health consensus panel. They are:

1. Acute bacterial prostatitis
2. Chronic bacterial prostatitis
3. Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis
4. Prostatodynia prostatitis

Prostate infections comprise only about 5% to 10% of all men with acute and chronic prostatic infections. Different prostatitis has different prostate infection symptoms.

Acute bacterial prostatitis is associated with the infections in the urinary in the other parts of the urinary tract. The most common prostate infection symptoms may include:

• Painful urination basically causes a burning sensation.
• Urinary urgency leads to an increased urge to urinate immediately.
• Urinary frequency leads to more urination than usual.
• Urinary hesitancy causes difficulties in starting the urine stream.
• Nocturia causes urination several times per night.
• Examination usually results into enlarged, tender, warm, firm and irregular prostate.

Painful ejaculations, pain in groin or pelvis, and pain in the testicles are also several prostate infection symptoms too. Some other prostate infection symptoms that could be observed during a prostate infection are fever, chills, malaise and fatigue.

The chronic bacterial prostatitis infection is uncommon which has a frequently occurring infection or inflammation that can spread to the bladder. The frequently occurring infection indicates that the prostate is not functioning well. Stress and depression commonly found in men with chronic bacterial prostatitis. Symptoms of chronic bacterial prostatitis are similar to acute bacterial prostatitis but are less intense. Some of the prostate infection symptoms are:

• Increased urinary frequency along with difficulty in urinating.
• Pain in the lower back, testes and penis.
• Sexual dysfunction
• Low grade fever, pain in joints and muscle aches

Examination may result in urethral discharge and tender testes or penis.
Chronic nonbacterial prostatitis is the most common form of prostatitis found in the men of all age group. It occurs more than eight times more than bacterial prostatitis. Nonbacterial prostatitis is usually detected in cases of infertility. Some of the chronic nonbacterial prostate infection symptoms are:

• Burning sensation during and after urinating.
• Pain in the genital area
• Problems in bowel problem
• Experiencing pain during ejaculation

Prostodynia is also known as the chronic pelvic pain syndromes which has no visible bacterial infection in the prostate. These prostate infection symptoms are usually treated with antibiotics. However these antibiotics cannot destroy the root cause of the problem. The prostate infection symptoms of this kind are:

• Impotence
• Pain in the pelvic region
• Blood in urine or semen
• Pain during ejaculation
• Urgency in urination
• Fever
• Pain in the lower back

Most of the prostate infections signs are common and the best solution for this is to seek medical help as soon as some of the symptoms are observed. It is better to detect the prostate infection symptoms in the earlier stages or else it could lead to more complications.
